Hi to all,

My Q is RIP v1 won't have support with Discontiguous Networks then y this network works fine ...

The config will work, But take a look at the routing table... There WONT be any specific subnets to reach.. it will have one route of 172.16.0.0 pointing to some next hop address, but then what about the other routes that belong to t he 172.16 group...

take a look at the routing table. and see for youself... try to ping the remote location.. garuntee you that it will be unsucessful or like 40-60%

i thought rip was classful

Depends on the version of RIP you are talkin about. RIP V1 is classful, it doesnt send Subnet information to its nieghbors, it only reverts back to the classful address, therefore no support for VLSM.

RIPV2 sends subnetmask information and does support VLSM.
