Hi,
This is Nawazish Khan from Mumbai. I am reading the book Sybex CCNA 640-801 5th edition. And in the 3rd chapter i found a mistake on page number 129, practice example 2A.

According to the sir tood lammle the last subnet comes to be 10.0.240.0 with the brodcase ID 10.0.255.255 and the host range 10.0.240.1 to 10.0.255.254.

But according to my calculations the last subnet would be 10.255.240.0 with the brodcase ID 10.255.255.255 and the host range 10.255.240.1 to 10.255.255.254.

Pls correct me if i am wrong. nawazish16@gmail.com

Wow.... I don't know how this post got by me. Four months is a long time to wait for a response! I do not have a copy of the 5th addition anymore. We are working off of the 6th addition CCNA.

Can you please give me the mask information that was in the problem you were talking about so we can work it out together?

thanks!

I have recently begun preparing for the CCNA exam and Todd's book has been extremely helpful.
However i've noticed some errors:in chapter 3.pg 168, in the answer for written lab 3.1 for question 3, we are told for an ip 192.168.100.66/27, that the host belongs to the 32 subnet having the valid host range 33-62, this is evidently incorrect.
Also, in chapter 3 pg 138, we are told that if we use a /29 mask we get "8 hosts per LAN interface-nice!" which again i think is a mistake.
Inspite of these mistakes, which may be attributable to printers or editors, the book is for me a God sen
