Why is a Mac address 48 bits long ? why is an IPv6 address 128bits long. why is a mpls label 32 bits long ?

The creater of these standards, just deciding to make these standards....Thats one reason why back in the days, vendors adopted TCP/IP addresses, instead of OSI addresses...becuase of the simplicity, when in reality the OSI addresses were archritectual better, and it was in hexidecimal format, which means we wouldnt be having this problem of running out of IP addresses...

At the time IPv4 was being created, 32 bits seemed like they would never run out of address space. That was well before the growth of the internet.

It is 32 bits because they (IETF, IANA) decided it should be 32 bits. There's really no other reason for being that long, it just is because that's what was decided upon.
