Hello

Sorry if I'm asking a bit of a silly question but i'm around 3 weeks away from taking the CCNA exam and although reasonably confident the little things are now starting to creep into the back of my mind.

My question is are you penalised for using the ? in the exam, I would be thinking of using it in the following example should it be required to configure all lines available for the VTY console:

R1(config)# line vty 0 ?

I would have thought that the sensible approach would be that Cisco would allow the ? when required in example above but not for other parts of the exam and that there would be no penalty for trying it.

Please advise as I don't want to be losing valuable marks when a standard "line vty 0 4" could be used.

Thanks

You can use the "Tab" and "?" in the exam.
Some of the funtions (cmds) are turned off in the sims, maybe beacuse they are not used.

Some people say that if you need to use the ? or tab, then you should not sit the exam. But personally i thinks thats not true.
When i did my CCNA i was doing a sim and i sure that i was right, but got the ^ symbol, i had to use the ? to be sure.

HTH, best of luck in 3 weeks.

As far as I'm aware, you are scored on the correct answer, not how you got there. You have to use the '?' in some situations anyway. Like your example, how do you know how many VTY lines are available if you don't use '?' ?

The use of '?' does not mean you are not ready for the exam. No one can be expected to remember all syntax of all commands perfectly. In the real world you have access to help functions, and the idea of the exams is show competency with real world equipment.
