Mr. Lammle,
Are the networks labeled 10.1.3.0 and 10.1.2.0 on page 341 Figure 6.9 swapped? This same diagram is repeated on page 680 Figure 11.6 and they are labeled the way I should think they should be to more accurately line up with the book text.

Regards,

I see the problem. I'll swap the network numbers in the figure.
Thanks for brining this to my attention!

cheers!

i need help with figure 6.9 of chapter 6, i'm trying to work through the chapter but cant create a network in the boson network sim. i cant seem to find all the routers that i'm supposed to use ie, 1841 ISR routers...

its no use jyst reading through, i would like to simulate the network while studying.

can anyone please help me with how i can do that with the boson netsim 7.0

with what simulation program?

im using boson netsim 7, and i cant see the exact hardware in the network designer that are being used in chapter 6 (figure 6.9)

what hardware must i use in the boson network designer for me to complete the chapter ?

Buy some routers and switches on ebay, that is my #1 recommendation. I'm sorry, but there is not a simulator in existence that will give you all of the preparation that buying the equipment will. You can pick up some of the 2600 series routers fairly cheap, although after going through the book, I highly recommend getting at least 1 2800 series router if possible and at least 1 2950 switch. The sims are nice, but no simulator contains all of the IOS commands. If you're serious about the CCNA and further, that's my main recommendation.

I agree with dbeare, the best thing to do is buy some equipment.
Routersim is best, and boson says they do a lot more then they actually do.
With that said, simulators are good for CCENT and CCNA.

You can buy from ebay, but you really want to start collecting ISR routers.
800, 1800, 2800, etc...

But, as I've said many times, routing is routing, and even an old 2501 router runs RIP the same way as 2800 routers...

Good luck!
