Dear All,

Refer to page 378 TABLE 6.2

Route source : Static route with exit interface - "Default AD" 0 (missing)

AND

Refer to page 394. under the output of command 'sh ip protocol'

R3# sh ip protocol

Default version control: send version 1, receive version 1. (shouldn't this be 'receive any version'
also under the interface 'Recv' 1 2.)

and few lines below it says,

Automatic network summarization is not in effect. (shouldn't this be 'Automatic network summarization is in effect'. Since we are showing the output of RIP V1 and it does the summarization by default)

thanks for writing.

The output is right from teh 871W router, and I didn't change it. So, that must be how the new IOS on that 12.4 router runs.

On a 12.2 router, it does show what you mention, but not on the 12.4 routers.

Cheers!
Todd

Dear Mr Todd,

Thank you for the reply.

Since I don't have 12.4 IOS I had raised this query but, don't you think it's weird showing 'Automatic network summarization is NOT in effect' whereas RIP version 1 is a classfull protocol which always does the summarization on network boundary.

Best Regards,

A.

Yes, I do.
RIPv1 did not change just because Cisco came out with a new IOS.
I'll be setting up my network next week and I'll put this on my list of things I need to work on.
Cheers!
Todd
