Hi

Just been watching LammlePress Video Tutorials for the CCNA, when I came across within the 2nd Module something that confused me a little.

How can the following be true?;

This makes a lot more sense;

What I'm getting at is, with the Wireshark lab Mr Lammle presented, how can it send a broadcast giving static information?

Unless it goes by MAC Address, however I seem to recall a broadcast MAC Address, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks in advance,

Panarchy

I don't get your whole question you are asking, but I understand the confusion.
What I was trying to say in that video is, again, there is a Cisco answer, and there is the actual answer.
I showed you the Cisco slides to give you the answers you need for the objectives.
I showed you the analyzer to provide the insight of what really happens.
They are quite different, unfortunately.
Cheers!

Thanks Todd for your reply.

I'm still a little confused though.

How can DHCP broadcast static IP information?

It obviously must send to 1 host, so how can it broadcast this? Unless it's hardware address (MAC) is within the broadcast... is it?

Doesn't it need an address for it to go to, a unicast one?

Please alleviate my confusion.

Thanks in advance,

Panarchy

YES! That is correct!
All DHCP messages are sent as broadcasts as I showed on my analyzer on the DVD's.
However, cisco says they are "unicast", or the CCNA objectives do. That is technically incorrect.
That's what I was trying to explain in my DVD. You can see it, I can see it, the world can see it if they turn on an analyzer...but the CCNA Objectives do not see it. Don't know why...

Ah, so it used MAC Addresses!

Finally, some sense.

Now onto the rest of the series, hopefully I'll be able to watch them all before Monday.

I'm planning to use the book (5th Deluxe Edition) merely to go over what I didn't fully understand in the Modules, is that fine, or is there some greater purpose?

Will the videos be enough for me to pass the CCNA?

(I already have Discovery 1 & Exploration 1, as well as IT:Essentials)

Please tell me if it will be enough, or if it will be enough for the CCENT.

Thanks in advance,

Panarchy
