does it matter that both routers show 172.126.1.1 as the Router ID??
I'd'a thunk that might'n cause some ish-shues :)

You're right. It does show the ID as 172.126...
I can't figure out how that happened as all my addreses were 172.16 in this lab, and I was using real equipment, etc, and was not making most of this up at the time ;)
Thanks for letting me know.
Cheers!

You bet it would cause some issues!
The whole idea of having RIDs is to uniquely identify each ospf neighbor.
The example in the book should have RouterA with a router ID of 172.16.1.2 and RouterB with a router ID of 172.16.1.1
Would RouterA and RouterB have problems working out their relationship with each other if they both had the same router ID???
Sho-nuff!
Good catch!
If two or more routers within a network segment have different timers they will not form an adjacency. Duplicate RouterIDs will cause problems too!
