I have some equiptment arriving next week. The 2610 router has a 10 base T port, but with IOS version 12.3 running. Can I create subinterfaces with a 10 MB ethernet? I should know this, but I have taken a break from studying for 7 months now :( Some have told me it's the IOS version that is the key (and 12.3 will create the subinterfaces), others say Fast ethernet is required regardless of IOS version.
After a quick Google, it seems that the ability to support subinterfaces on an Ehernet port is down to both platform an IOS version. On the 2610, a 12.3 should be able to do this.

I was able to change the order and swapped one of the 2610s with a 2610XM, so I will be able to test that theory (and have a 100 just in case).

I have confirmed that with a 10 baseT ethernet port, you are able to configure subinterfaces with the 12.3 IOS running. (will test lower IOS later)
Obviously, this would be unwise to do in any production network, but for training it is helpful if you are on a tight budget with lab equiptment. Older routers with 10baseT are far cheaper than ones that come with fast ethernet.
