I noticed in the Nat practice labs in chapter 11, when the default routes are configured, the "ip classless" command isn't used. Is it just not necessary for Nat default routes?

yes, you do need that with default routing, however, it is not necessary to type in for most routers today, unless they are really old. It is a default configuration on the current routers today, and the even newer routers don't even show it in the running-config anymore, even if you type it in manually.
It use to be a large CCNA objective, but because it is enabled by default, Cisco doesn't stress about that command too much.
Cheers!

Roger that and thanks for the response. I got a little freaked out because my router sim doesn't even look for that command in default routing practice scenarios at all. As a result, I was forgetting to use it.
