UDP datagrams

Hi all,

Quick question on UDP. If say UDP is used as transport for data transmission and and the UDP datagrams arrive at their destination out of sequence, do they get droped or do they get passed on to the next layer in the order they arrived?

UDP provides no guarantees to the upper layer protocol for message delivery and the UDP protocol layer retains no state of UDP messages once sent. Take a peep over http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc768
