Just found out that my company will be deploying IPv6 capabilities on our core and backbone gear sometime in 2011. No plans as when we will let our client's know though....I found out when some guy called me up informing me his company was given a free IPv6 block and wanted to try and start using it. I'm very excited about seeing it across a large network but at the same time concerned...I work with a allot of experienced networking guys but IPv6 was always disregarded and no one thought we would be depleting the our IPv4 addresses so fast ( Nice blog from August Todd ) I'm thinking about creating a guide on understanding it and see if I can get it used enterprise wide in my company...I know some of our lower level techs in different depts prob have never heard of IPV6 and I'm wondering how soon will the common end user start seeing it from provider companies like mine??? When it starts though...its gonna be huge!! I know what I'm gonna be putting extra studying into this winter :) Figure I would share my IPv6 excitement with this thread :D
