Again me!

In determining the mask depending on the number of hosts, the criteria is to chose the mask which "generate" enough space. For example, a 192 (/26) mask creates enough space for 62 hosts.
That's clear.
Let's consider now the net in Figure 3.6 (page 142).
Network B has 30 hosts, or we have to create space for 30 host.
If we chose a /27 mask as suggested in the example, we have space for 30 hosts, but we can't assign the address to the router interface.
So I suppose it's better (we have) to choose the /26 mask.
I know that those are examples and we have to catch the idea behind the VLSMs design, but I thought it's worth remarking what I said.
Am I wrong?

When I mention the amount of hosts needed on each LAN, that includes the router, printers, servers, etc....along with actual PC's too.

However, with what you said, if proves that you really seem to be getting a good grasp on IP ad VLSM addressing.

Cheers!

Thank you Todd.
I hope you don't feel to much bothered with all my threads!

I'm studying hard and I really want to understand.

Your book is very helpful, because up to now I've tried to understand the internetworking world, but without lot of success.
Probably my approch was too "accademic"; your book deal with the different topics with the right mix of "practical" and "theoretical" views.
