Hello,
today this router arrived and now I own a 2511 router aka terminal server.

Usually this model costs around 200-250 Euro (170-210 Pounds or 270-330 US Dollars) at Ebay (here in Germany). I got it in exchange for some old Cisco equipment that I never used since I got it for free two years ago.

I got it with 8 MB Flash/DRAM. I installed Flash and DRAM from a retired 2504 (Token Ring) and now I have 16 MB Flash/DRAM. Now I'm looking for the tools and the equipment to build my own rollover cables at the length that I need for my lab.
Bye, Tore

Congrats.

I managed to pick up an NM-16A from evil bay 10 months ago. Those are normally in the same price as the 2511s. I stole it for around $65US and it lived in my 3640 along with my NM-4A/S. the 3640 served as my access server and my frame relay cloud router. Just sold the 3640 w/ NM-4A/S this weekend.

EDIT: See if you can find some of the Cisoc RJ45 to RJ45 cables layingaround at work. That would save a bit of headache in making your own (which are easy to make. Just need a set of crimpers and RJ45 plugs!)

Hello,
I use a Cisco 2521 Router for frame relay. It is a Token Ring Router but I connected the aux port to the aux of another router with a rollover cable. With some command line magic the aux port can be use as normal interface with an IP address. Maybe I replace this router later, I already bought a NM-4T module.

A NM-16A module is usually expensive at Ebay. The problem is that some profi resellers try to keep the prices at a high level (not only for this module). They buy the equipment of normal sellers for a high price.

Usually we don't touch the equipment, it is installed and shipped in a warehouse in another town. On the other hand the cable, the plugs and a crimper tongs (Is this correct?) are not to expensive and I can made the cables in the length I need.
Bye, Tore
