erasing a 831 router

I purchased a 831 router off ebay and it still had the configuration from the enviroment it came from, I tried the shift-break at boot with no results, I need to reset the router to default. Also the IOS is 12.3 I need to upgrade it to 12.4. help on both these issue will really help a up and coming network admin
