Does anybody else think this a bad question? The answer given states Session, Data Link and Physical layers are not part of the DoD model but neither are the rest that are mentioned as the correct answers (i.e. Transport, Internet, and Application). They're all named different in the DoD model. Todd said himself that the names between OSI and DoD are interchangeable so if I said Data Link it would refer to Network Access in DoD correct, so that should have been a correct answer, correct?

What does my explanation say?
People blame me for writing about the objectives.
I don't make this stuff up, people.

First, the DoD has no protocols specified at the Network Access layer meaning that that layer is there for the programer to chose which type of network access to use, which takes out the Data Link layer and Physical layer as part of the answer.

The Transport layer and Host to Host layer are the same.

The Process/application and Application layer are the same.

The Process/Application layer does not seperate responsbilities of the upper layer by seperating them into three layers as the OSI, so the Session layer is not correct, nor would the Presentation.

I explained this very well in my explanation of the question.

Welcome to the CCNA.

Thank you for the response. I didn't mean to question your knowledge on the topic. I would never challenge that. I was just looking for clarification. I just finished reading through the book and I am going through and reviewing a few of the topics I am not 100% on.

Thanks again!

I hate to have to write questions such as those in my book, but that's the CCNA for you.

I try and prepare people for what to expect.
Too many people think that crap they get on the Cisco site prepares them for the exam. They fail terribly.

Just be prepared for quesitons that question what you know, and you have to chose the best answers.

Cheers!

Cisco does this yes. I cannot count the number of time in all 8 Cisco exams i have taken where the question makes you question your knowledge and you sit there and think "This is Cisco writting these, THEY must be right" i must be wrong.
This is twofold resoning.
One, Cisco loves to trip you and test your skill/knowledge with clever wording, watch the double wording they use. Quick reading will trip you up and two answer often look the same.

Two, in the real world of networking there is not one day where somone (customeror, co-worker or third party) will not argue your knowledge/skill about your network and services.

I appreciate the advice and heads up from both of you. This is the only networking book I have ever read that helps us to understand these types of things. To help us think like Cisco thinks. It's an amazing book and I have recommended it to all of my IT friends.
