Dear lammle!
I am confused about router components, as I understood.
Router contains 4 types of memories
Memory:
1- flash 2- ROM 3- DRAM (RAM) 4- NVRAM
Software (IOS and Mini programs):
ROM : 1 – Bootstrap 2- Post 3- Mini IOS , ROM monitor
Flash : IOS operating system
NVRAM : Start up configuration & configuration register
RAM : running configuration (IOS , Configuration file)
Boot sequence:
When we switch on router first bootstrap will boot router and will use POST to perform hardware check , after bootstrap will use Mini IOS to load IOS from flash memory and will look for valid configuration stored in NVRAM according to configuration register value, both will load into RAM and will be running configuration to run router.
Am I right helping me please.
