Hello Sir Todd Lammle
first of all let me thank u for the excellent book that u provided.
i have few confusions about the new ccna 640-802 exam

1- Is ISDN completely eliminated from the course.even if it is,is it required to have knowledge about this technology in the real world

2- How complex are the questions relating to IPV6 in the exam.

3-THe last chapter "Wide Area Networking" focuses mainly upon Frame Relay
do we have to nail down the other technologies like the DSL,ATM etc

and the last thing

Are the CNA and SDM configurations included in the exam

Thanks

ISDN is completely removed, that is a correct.

IPv6 knowledge is very limited as with SDM.

CNA is not covered at all, but Frame relay is.

Good luck!

when i try to configure a frame relay switch in boson 6.0.The command

"frame-relay route 102 interface serial1 201" does not work i guess theres no mistake in that command.is it with the simulator that it doesnt allow to configure a frame relay switch

Help Me Guys

The boson router sim is over marketed and over hyped.
Your commands are correct.
Get real equipment.

Hello,
read this post in a blog by Wendell Odom: http://www.networkworld.com/community/node/24916

Most people, like Todd, write that a 1900 switch is too old.

Thanks, Tore, for your post.

I can't stress this enough - do NOT buy Cisco kits with 1900 switches in them.

The 2500 routers have value, but very little, like $25, but the 1900 switches have zero value.

Get 2600 routers at a minimum if you can, and 2950 or 2960 switches.

Cheers!

guys i have one more confusion
its about frame relay

whats the point of configuring subinterfaces...for example if i have router at head office with one serial connection to fram relay cloud.i can do the same with my branch office routers then whats the point of using sub interfaces???

Thank you for posting.

If you don't use point-to-point subinterfaces you have two problems.
1. All PVC's (DCLI's or connections) are in the same subnet
2. You could have split horizon issues with your routing protocol

If you use Multipoint subinterfaces, all connections are in the same subnet and you don't resolve split horizon issue, so they provide not solutions for you.

It is doubtful you will install Frame Relay today, probaby more like MPLS.

Cheers!

My pleasure

u mean if i use point-to-point subinterfaces then i can assign ip address with different subnets on each routers interface and they will still communicate?

Each subineterface would have it's own subnet.

Hi Mr. Todd, do you have to purchase equipment in order to pass the exam?

Also in a prior boot camp for the old exam we only used switches and they said this was enough to pass the exam. Well the boot camp was a waste of time and money. 3k to be exact. I did not pass the old exam. I would not suggest a boot camp from anyone else. It is like gambling, you do not know what you are going to get in the class room. No refunds and Cisco will not refund you.

Also Mr. Todd do you provide training on the CCVP exam?

Thank you!!

You said "at a minimum". What would be ideal for CCNA? Thanks/

you can use three 2501 routers and two 2950 switches.
All can be found super cheap on ebay.
