anyway let's get to the point:

what is the range of ip addresses that will be forwarded by router B using this summary 192.168.144.0/20 that is held in router A routing table?
the answer as its writin in ur book is 192.168.144.1 to 192.168.159.255 (which is a broadcast address) !!!
i dont know maybe now its sounds weard  how could the router forward a broadcast????
i still dont get it...

"this example i took from ur latest book chapter 3 page 149 figure 3.15"

Hi friend !

yes by default router will not forward broadcost but this is when router recieve a packet with broadcost address.

but in summarisation router forwards a group of addresses as route update to its neighbour router so it will forward it.

this my understanding may be i am wrong.

dear fayaz,
first of all thnx for the replay my friend :)
so the router will not forward the broadcast if it was ment to hosts, but if it ment to be sent to some neighbour router it will send it!!!
tell me if i got anything wrong!!!

OK, you are both right....

If a router receives a packet that has a destination address that is a broadcast, that packet will be dropped....

However, if the broadcast address is generated from the router, it will be forwarded out the correct link.

The best answer for this is "the router will forward traffic with any destination between 192.168.144.0 and 192.168.159.255"

Cheers!
