Hi All,
Would like some feedback on some preferred hardware for a home lab. I have PT, it works pretty good for the most part, but would like to put together some hardware.
Thanx...

I don't have my CCNA or CCNP yet. I'm a retired firefighter(2 months ago). The last few years before my retirement, I was helping out in our IT office doing desktop/laptop & website support. I didn't do much networking at all. All of our routers & switches were maintained by the County IT office or AT&T.

It comes down to how much cash you can spend what you indeed to do with your lab. If you are just going down the CCNA path, a couple of low end routers (800, 2600XM & 3460) and two L2 switches would see you right.
However if you plan on doing the CCNP then i would look at getting the best routers you can afford (1841 or 2801) and a L3 switch(s).
When i built my CCNP lab, i had the CCIE R&S lab in mind and decided to build something i could expand on by adding parts as and when i could afford.
HTH.

You know, your signature makes it look like you already have
A+, Network+, CCNA, CCNA Security, and CCNP.
Hence, the question from ciscodaze.

Good for you old man...;) Keep at it.
Im 52 now, started studying two years ago, after I left my last job. Just started building my first lab, finally. Don't know where this all is leading but its fun, and I have a job getting paid for what Ive learned so far at a local cisco academy (tutoring in the labs)...gotta kick those young whippersnappers in the butt to get them going. I guess technically you could say I work in the field.

Yea....it may look a lil misleading, the items in bold I've completed, the items not in bold are the ones I'm pursuing. Came up with that sig while studying the routing chapter.
