Finding the summarization for 192.168.1.0--192.168.120.0
The containing supernet would be 192.168.0.0--192.168.128.0, yielding 192.168.0.0/255.255.128.0 or 192.168.0.0/17. However, the answer on page 206 states 192.168.0.0/25. Am I crazy here?

can you give the exact wording of the book?
"For each of the following sets of networks, determine the summary address and the mask to be used that will summarize the subnets.
1...
...
6. 192.168.1.0 through 192.168.120.0
7..."
Answer on page 204:
"6. 192.168.0.0/25"
I know the answer is incorrect, I guess I'm just surprised that it's not already in the errata.

yeah, thats why i asked you to post that, as there was no errata.
thanks
lol, if you inverted the 120.0 to 1.120 a /25 would have been the correct answer
welcome to the forum

Yeah, I thought the same thing about the inversion. Thanks for the welcome, Kevin!

I went over this same question for a day now, and swore I was just missing something, thanks for getting that cleared up, now I can move on.

I just realized that this is in the errata, as item 11. I had not noticed that the errata was not completely in page order. It mostly is, but there are a couple of items that are not. Doh!
