I am having a little trouble with understanding the behavior of the attached topology. I started with the layout examples in Chap. 10 and then added the VLAN's while moving through Chap. 11.

The layouts worked as explained in Chap. 10 and then I was able to get the VLANs to ping each other through the switches. The problem now it the switches can ping each other nor the gateways at the router. The arp table's show the switches attached to each other but they do not successfully ping.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to how further troubleshooting would proceed? Is this a behavior of the PT software and my configuration?

Thanks, Randy

After sleeping on this and re-reading my post, I have come up with the following observations:

1. The question was vague and not well thought out. (It even made me go "Huh?" :( ).

2. It relies on having the Packet Tracer program and taking the time to evaluate all the configurations to find the solution. I realize both were an unfair assumption on my part and might not have been the right approach.

3. I am getting inconsistant symptoms each time I open and close this lab. This may be due to trying to implement too many concepts at one time before I fully understand what each one is suppose to do.

At this point, I am going back to Chapter 10 and starting from scratch to build a foundation that will hopefully give me the knowledge to correct the problems.

Thanks for reading, Randy

Thanks for trying ciscodaze. I am using 5.3.3. It made me save it as a .pkt and then I had to zip it to upload. First time I have upload. Here is one that I renamed with a .txt extension. Maybe it will work if you change it back to .pkt.

Thanks,
