Hi, I'm 17 years old, and in 11th grade. I'm taking the Cisco IT Essentials 1: PC Hardware and Software. I'm also taking Networking for Home and Small Businesses. To get a head start on taking my CCNA, since the Networking for Home and Small Businesses class is 2 years, I bought a book. I bought the CCNA Fourth Edition Study Guide 640-801 (by Todd Lammle). But, currently, the exam number for CCNA is 640-802. Am I studying the right material? Should I exchange this book and get a 640-802 book?

Yes, I would highly suggest exchanging that book for the new one. The new CCNA study guide is the 6th edition and is for the 640-802 exam. Quite a bit has changed, and is updated in the new version of the book.
Hope this helps you out.

Ok thanks for the help. I'll buy the new book. But do you think the exam number will change by the spring/summer of 2010? Because that is when I plan to take the test. I just want to make sure I am not wasting my money.

As far as I am aware, there are no guarantees that Cisco will or won't alter the CCNA exam between now and 2010.
Although my own feeling would be that the more time spent learning and preparing for the exams would be time well spent.
Good luck with your studies.
Regards.
