Hello Everyone,

New to the site here and just got done going through the first chapter. Did the questions at the end of the chapter and out of all the labs & review questions might have missed 4, not a bad start.

My question is...what is the best way to use this book to study. I was going to read each chapter, do the questions thoroughly (writing the answers down, then going to check them against the back of the book...what I miss go back and re-read that section) and continue until I finish the book. Then do the questions that are on the cd, and study off of the flash cards...and take a few practice tests/questions with Transcender.

Are the questions on the cd and flash cards different than what are in the book?

Any recommendations on study habits or best learned practices? Thanks in advance!

That's a GREAT way to study...

But I recomend getting some hands on experience since there are simulations on the test...I recommend going on ebay and buying some routers/switches....

If money is an issue (like it was for me); get RouterSim or the Sybex CCNA Virtual Lab, Titanium Edition...that's what I used to pass the test.

It seems from your post that your study habits are good....you just need some "hands on" experience with the CLI...

GOOD LUCK!

As custangro said, you must have hands-on experience.
I just can't imagine that you can pass without it.
the test is HARD, with lots of simulations.

your study ideas are good, so your on the right track.

Go to ebay and by some routers. Any routers will work for CCNA as long as you can connect two or three together.

But you also need at least two 2950 or 2960 switches. Connect them together and run VLAN, VTP and STP labs. This is a MUST to pass the exam.

Reading my chapters will help you tremendously, but if you add the routers and switches, you'll set yourself up for complete sucess.

Cheers!
