    Default VOICE Question

With the new changes Cisco has made to the Voice certification process, as a CCNA can I proceed directly to CCNP Voice, or do I have to get my CCNA Voice prior to?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I think you need the CCNA Voice mate.

Had you taken and passed CVOICE (642-436) prior to the 28 February 2011 lock date, you would have CCNA:Voice and could proceed directly with the rest of the CCNP:Voice exam path.

Without an existing CCNA:Voice, whether achieved by taking the now retired IIUC or CVOICE exams, you are now required to take the new ICOMM (CCNA:Voice) test as a prerequisite for CCNP:Voice.

I just took TVoice today and passed. That's it. CCNP Voice certified. I'll tell you all, Todd's CCNA bootcamp was the absolute shot in the arm that my career needed. It was what really got me going. He filled in all the gaps of how a network works.

I went straight from that to a CCNA/CCNP Voice bootcamp. That class was slower paced, but with good reason. It's been about 3 months since I finished that boot camp, and I just finished my tests.

I cant talk about exam content, but I say from easiest to hardest is:

ICOMM - This is a throw away test. If you can remember the acronyms, you can pass.
CIPT1 - Before starting this test, you should really have already studied CAPPS and CIPT2 to give you an understanding. But if you've read them all, then CIPT1 isnt too hard.
CAPPS - This one is tricky. You'll have to know all the possible configurations of CallManager, CallManager Express, and Unity, Unity Express.
CVoice - This is all about Qos. Your gonna have to really study to get passed this one. This particular topic sets the bar for what kind of an engineer you are. So dont scrimp on studying for this one.
CIPT2 - Surprisingly, this test is a real bitch. You are expected to know alot about rarely used technologizes along with everything from CIPT1. Do not underestimate this test.
TVOICE - As you can imagine, this one is the hardest. Not so much that its very difficult, as its just very tedious. You'll be given pages and pages of trace logs, then you have to find the needle in the haystack that they are looking for. They do however go back to the troubleshooting model that you learn all the way back in ICOMM.

Anyways, I want to Thank Todd again. I hope our paths meet again some day.
