I would think the biggest reason for blocking ping would be to keep unwanted traffic from scanning your network. Things like whats up Gold or solorwinds use Ping to map a network.
Echo is an incoming request, Echo replay is the request going back out, When 192.168.1.1 ping 192.168.1.2 the icmp request is echo and when 192.168.1.2 reply's its an echo-reply |
