I have been upgrading the firmware a ton of 5550 & 5585-X in the last week.
The 5585-X has been going very smooth. After doing a bunch of these i started on 5550's this last few days. The way i have been doing this via a console server via OOB management so i am not losing connection to a load of hardware thousands of miles away. We have them as HA - so as you all know the drill with these. Upload the new IOS, change the boot system and start reloading them. From the active i am reloading the standby - Now on the 5550 something that made my heart jump when it reloads. It reloads, you can see the new IOS as the boot system. Once it is up it see's it has a mate and starts to bring over the config - then the name of the box changes from its name you gave it to "ciscoasa#". Of course i hit the enter key a few times and it still says "ciscoasa#"! Then it changes back to the given name. For a while (seconds) it looks like the box has no config and has gone back to factory. Scary!
