7th Edition - Page 312 regarding CDP
Hi all,
I'm reviewing the CDP sections in the 7th edition. Working on Figure 7.2, which shows how to map the IP addresses of the routers around the main router via CDP commands. The problem I have is on Page 313, near the bottom when it shows the output from the "Show CDP Neighbors" command. This command shows the type of routers around the main router, and what interface they are on. However the book then assumes that because an interfaces IP address is 192.168.21.1, then the other side would be 192.168.21.2 (aka 1 ip up). Surely assuming this IP address could be dangerous, or is there something else in the text that suggests this is how the network is configured? From another angle, the top section of Page 314 states "we can now create the topology in Figure 7.3". You can, but not the IP addresses of the remote routers?
